点评:We had a pleasant few hours here as a planned stopover on way to Devon, staying in Bridgwater. I did a lot of research into beaches in the area, as I didn’t realise so many would be muddy due to the huge tidal variations, having never been to the beach in Somerset before.
The tides make a big difference but if you check the tide times online you will be fine. We arrived between high and low tide and managed to get nearly an hour playing in the water before it got too muddy. I wanted to get there earlier but we left home later than planned! There were lifeguards there on the day we visited. We then went back up to the top of the beach to set up camp, have our picnic, play games, build sandcastles, have ice creams etc. It is definitely worth taking windbreakers and/or beach tent.
We parked on the beach for £8, which was a novelty and well worth it! It was quite windy when we left and glad to have had the car to hand!
We didn’t go up as far as the National Trust bit at the end, which I would have liked to explore, but for first-timers we made the most of it. Toilets were basic and surprisingly clean near the entrance to the beach. No other facilities eg cafe at that point that I saw though. Ice cream van drives up and down the beach (also selling coke and water as cold drink options) but be careful of overcharging/wrong change as I experienced myself and saw with another customer too.
