点评：Just had a wonderful week on Chalkhill Blue, we were shown around the boat and as this was our first trip on a narrow boat the instruction was second to none. My confidence was lifted after some excellent tuition, so if you, like I was are apprehensive about having no skills please don’t be, you learn very quickly. Had a few issues with reversing, but eventually mastered it. We went up Foxton locks with the aid of all the helpful lock keepers, they are very informative and helpful. Tunnels are a bit scary, went through with just the front light and came back with all internal lights on which makes a huge difference. Chalkhill Blue never faltered and the facilities within are fantastic, we took far too many clothes and food, there are plenty of places to eat on route if you moor up near villages. Some tips we thought may help, tow paths are muddy so have good boots, we didn’t take Crocs or the like to step into when taking off our boots so went though a lot of dirty socks, if you intend to go when it’s cold you will need an extra bag of top loader compressed fuel, you get a container of free wood , but because it was cold we probably had the burner on more than we should have, don’t light it whilst travelling as we did to warm up the inside before we moored. Smokey is an understatement and found it difficult to navigate, never did that again. The boat has WIFI for the TV although the signal was not great in all locations, the TV does have a DVD player built in. All in all it was a great experience, met some wonderful people who are so keen to give advice and help if you need it. We shall definitely book again and try their different boats, can’t wait for that day to come again this year.
