A hugely enjoyable family week afloat with side visits to pubs and a petting farm

点评：A very friendly and helpful company to deal with. They were flexible about us starting our trip, helpfully as one of us got held up in joining. The boats are well-organised and comfortable -- I'd rate them as four star (for narrowboats!) and not so fancy and polished-brass that you worry about every little bump. And there were a few. We were in Gosling, two parents, two children, and grandad. Three cabins and two bathrooms met all our needs, though we were largely blessed by good weather. My 4- and 7-year old granddaughters loved the trip, and were tired out enough in the evening not to wake too early in the bright late May mornings. Especially they liked the tunnels.
We limited our travels to a couple of days on the Leicester (northwards) branch, which was quiet, visiting the Queen's Head pub in Saddington. Then south through Foxton Locks -- an experience -- to Welford, a gentle day's cruise. And the wonderful Wharf Inn there -- pheasant and rabbit pie, yum! Took a day to visit the Mini Meadows (petting) Farm down the road: kits of different animals to meet. Excellent way to break up the week. Returning home (again via Welford locks, a gentle day's trip) to Market Harborough in good time to pack and return to boat.
