点评:Thermalstrandbad in Baden is a magnificent architectural gem and we enjoy visiting every year. We returned this year for its jubilee—it's celebrating 100 years and is clearly well-prepared for the occasion. The one letdown, however, is the local dining, particularly the Milchtrinkhalle (Kaffeehaus). Beyond the limited food selection and underwhelming quality, it's the way this place is run—the policies, operations, and staff conduct—that fundamentally doesn't match such a beautiful venue or Austria's celebrated food culture.
Remarkably, the Milchtrinkhalle refuses cash payments. There's a small takeaway window next door where they agreed—only if you spend at least 10 €—to accept card payments. We bought there and tried to sit in their garden area, which stood nearly empty by evening. A young man then appeared and curtly ordered us to leave, stating that food purchased from their window could only be eaten outside only. Disappointing for such a landmark celebration.
