点评:The museum, together with the ephemera it contains, evokes the past vividly. From pharmacists' prescription records to calendars from the 1920s and 1930s, there's a sense that life is in suspended animation. Will a ghost from the past slip out of a side room?
The volunteers who staff the museum also provide a delectable Devonshire tea - scones, cream and jam, though there's a perennial argument about which should be first on the scones. I'm a firm believer that the cream goes first; Herself insists it's cream on top. I suspect that it doesn't really matter - the flavour will still be the same. The scones were delightfully fluffy - none of the hard edges that so often bedevil shop-bought scones.
Not only do they feed us, they're also founts of historical information.
Well worth a visit - but beware the sometimes uneven floors!
