点评：After a thorough safety briefing, we headed out for a couple of hours on the river.
The children, aged 8 and 9, had an absolutely fabulous time. The Kantakanu was incredibly stable and surprisingly manoeuvrable. They were soon confidently paddling themselves and, with a little steering from the adults at the back, we made great progress upstream to Weston before enjoying a gentle drift back to The Boathouse.
The two hours flew by. We were lucky enough to see dragonflies, kingfishers, herons, moorhens and plenty of other wildlife along the way. The river itself was beautifully clean, apart from a handful of bottles and an abandoned plant pot, which we were happy to retrieve as we passed.
The resident swans, Ron and Collie, were kind enough to pose for a few photos, much to the children’s delight!
Huge thanks to Byron, Lee and the whole CK Paddle team. This wasn’t our first visit and it certainly won’t be our last. Every trip is well organised, relaxed and great fun, and we always leave having made wonderful family memories.
Highly recommended for families, whether you’re complete beginners or just looking for a different way to spend a couple of hours on the water.
