点评：Planning a trip to the Pantanal as a solo female made me read, a lot. Trip Advisor, blogs, Google. Till I found Pantanal Trackers.
Julinho was responsive, reigned in my plans wisely and focused them, based on my 'simple' request to observe jaguars and wildlife. No telephoto lens, only my trusty Android phone cam.
Isana met me at Cuiaba airport and we met Julinho the next morning at Porto Jofre.
Isana grew up in the area and knows so much about the flora and fauna, even though she is relatively new at this. We had great laughs together, she is patient, and is constantly working on her English. And she is the best driver on the Transpantaneira Road when it is wet. It was pouring, and I almost fell asleep, safe even with slipping and sliding on the clay, as Isana manually controlled the car.
Now Julinho......!! He should be proud of the work he's done guiding and sharing jaguars and wildlife with people. He does indeed take pride, yet is humble. Willing to share knowledge, experience with others, he is well respected by other guides and staff at the lodges.
Julinho respects the jaguars and his philosophy of wildlife spotting is sound - they show up when they show up. There is no menu or check list a human can tick off. And the numbers don't matter......and I saw a LOT !!
Sure the giant anteater didn't turn up, but the ocelot, Southern Samantha, armadillo did. And we were first to a few jaguar sightings because of Julinho's sharp eyes.
I stayed at Berco Pantaneiro and Pous Alegre.
