点评:If you are a beginner and have never hiked up a mountain before, the Patscherkofel is a good start. By bus coming from Innsbruck you can easily reach a busstop called "Patscherkofel" (near Innsbruck). Please make sure that you do not leave the bus at "Igls Alte Talstation" unless you wanted to extend your hike. The busstop "Patscherkofel" is the last one before the bus takes a turn and goes back to Innsbruck. There I recommend you to get off the bus. From there you could either use the cable car or start your hike. It would be a good idea to get a map on which you will find all the different paths you might be able to take up hill. There are many signs on the way. However, sometimes you might not be completely sure where you are and then a map comes in handy. Those maps are available at the tourist info point downtown Innsbruck for instance. There are also lesser detailed versions of the map for free. You can ask for them at the ticket counter next to the cable car station. On the sigs along the way it very often tells you how long it will take you to reach a certain point. Keep in mind, however, that if you are a beginner, you might need more or sometimes double the time. Just in case, you should bring enough water and something to eat, because sometimes the restaurants along the way are closed. Also you should always bring a torch (you might need it, if you wanted to walk back down or need to, if you missed the last cable car or just in case). Also you need to bring a first aid kit as well as a pullover or something warm to wear during the breaks. Even in the summer it is not always that warm. You also always need a windproof and waterproof jacket since the weather can change very quickly. Sun cream is also a must. Please do not forget a hat and you should wear hiking boots. If you wanted to invest in a good backpack that is made especially for hiking, that is definitely a very good investment. It is not absolutely necessary for this hike, but trust me, you will notice the difference between an ordinary backpack and a hiking backpack. The list is not complete, but it is a start. Please check other lists about what to bring on a hike. Even if it is one of the easy hikes, it should not be underestimated. Also before the hike you should check the time when the last cable car leaves from the top of the mountain to go back down. There is a ticket machine next to the cable car station on top of the mountain that is only accessible via credit card. If you wanted to pay in cash or just wanted to make sure, you could buy the return ticket ahead of your hike at the ticket counter where you start your hike. The hike itself is free. If you wanted to walk up and then back down, you do not need any ticket. You can hike at whatever time of the day you like. Just keep in mind, that hiking is not so easy when it is getting dark and you need to know when the last bus leaves if you wanted to get back to Innsbruck in the evening. The bus stop is in the middle of nowhere and it is wise to plan ahead. You will reach Innsbruck in thirty minutes via bus, but if you wanted to walk, that might be quite a journey and is not very realistic. And one more thing: If you reach the cable car on the top of the mountain, it is actually not the very top of the mountain. If you wanted to hike all the way up, please plan about two to two and a half hours extra to get up and back down to the mountain top cable car station or more if you wanted to spend some time on the very top of the mountain. There are a few different paths on which you can reach the very top of the mountain. Some of them are quite steep and you need longer than the mentioned time. Please check carefully which one you decide to take so that you would not miss the last cable car. In many of the restaurants you cannot pay by card. It is therefore wise to bring cash on your hike. If you are not fluent in German, it is good to have a little dictionary on hand if you do not have phone access to be able to understand the signs and instructions along the way. I hope you enjoy your hiking experience as much as I did.
