点评:There has been a windmill on this site since before the early 18th century as the present mill was built in 1716. Some 200 years after being built it was damaged in a fire in 1911, after which it was repaired and raised to uits present position. To save it from decay, the municipality of Buren bought it in 1947 and after a major restoration in 1974, in which its grinding mechanism was sorted out, it began grinding flour again (which can be bought when the mall shop in the mill is open. It is uplifting to see a mill such as this being looked after so well. I come from a town in Kent where we also have a mill, manned by volunteers and producing flour, but, unfortunately, our local authority owner is trying to offload its responsibility for looking after it. Make sure you have a look at this beautiful mill while you still can.
