Genuine old and pretty town.

点评：Quimper is an extremely beautiful old town. The Historical Centre, radiating out from the Cathedral still retains stunning old stone buildings and the rare half-timbered (Colombage) buildings and painted houses are stunning. The facades of these are regularly adorned with beautiful painted plaster or wooden decorations of Animals, Tradespeople, and Saints. Occasionally Quimper Faience too. There was so much to see high up I feared tripping. All very photogenic. The Locals were charming and friendly. Interesting Retail was well presented as were Boulangeries, Patisseries, Chocolatiers and Restaurants. There is an Indoor Market and on Saturday along the River walk there was a fantastic Market selling quality merchandise and fresh produce, fruit, vegetables, Plants, Flowers, bakery items. Pricing on quality woven items - baskets etc., was so low it was painful to be unable to purchase. Travellers remorse. The beautiful Cathedral is definitely worth a visit. We did a Petit Train ride which was outstanding. A long and interesting trip with sheets of info in English for us foreigners. Very helpful Driver. The Town is dotted with shops selling good examples of Quimper Faience too. Small occasionally so perfect Souvenirs. The Faience Museum is a must.
Quimper is a perfect Town for walking around. So much to see and all beautiful. A cautionary note. The Gare is outside the Historical Centre and Taxis are minimal away in the old town. The Buses were good and worth a visit to the Office de Tourisme to ascertain Stations and stops. We went to Benodet by Bus. A lovely Seaside Town and back to gorgeous Quimperle by Train from Quimper.
