点评:Stayed in Phuket for 5 nights, most nights we went to the kata night market. theres lots of different foods to choose from incl: loaded potato's, spring rolls, and fried chicken. most stands have reasonable prices 100-180 baht (5-9 NZD), depending on what your buying. the most common stalls you will find is: seafood, fried goods, fruit drinks/smoothies, and some bar stalls mostly outdoors.
Around the market areas you may find locals holding baby lemurs that will ask tourists for a photo/video holding the critter in exchange for money, now this specific cash grab isn't exactly "scamming" as they will tell you prices of photography before hand that you may decline or negotiate with. authough keep in mind this act considered "supporting exploitation" as these locals have most likely captured these lemurs from the wild and are trying to make a living off them.
In the shopping/souvenir area there's lots of variety incl: T-shirts/clothing, small wood sculptures, toys, and tropical jewelry. some stalls have set prices infront of the object which is more non-negotiable, while others are more "ask and negotiate" if you will. during my stay I didn't buy much else from T-shirts and from experience the best price for a shirt is around 300 baht MAX (14-16 NZD). like every other market in thailand during your look around the area there will be local sellers asking you to look in there store saying things like "Brother I have what your looking for" or "hey boss man what you looking for?" feel free to just ignore them and just look for your own things as the stalls are very wide open and easy to find what you want (sellers are happy to help you find what you want too).
that's mostly it, I think most of the food there tastes great and definitely recommend to anyone staying in Kata beach, Phuket.
