点评:We visited Timgad on a day trip from Constantine. It takes approximately 2 and a half hours to reach the site, the visit of which, including the museum, takes approximately 3 hours. At the entrance to the site, on the right there are the toilets, which are not perfectly clean. The museum is close to the entrance and is characterized by several large mosaic floors which, although certainly well preserved in the museum, however, being hung on the walls, lose part of their fascinating perspective as they are positioned in an unnatural way. Founded by the Romans as a military colony in 100 AD, with the name Colonia Marciana Ulpia Traiana Thamugadi, where the last word was the Berber name of the place, it is very extensive and interesting ruins remain of this ancient town. Not much frequented by tourists (we were the only visitors until a bus of local tourists arrived as we were leaving), it is fascinating and pleasant to walk along the square Roman-style streets of this well-preserved place where there are countless columns which come in all sizes. Trajan's arch is impressive and almost complete (partially restored), while the theater and the forum are very interesting and well preserved. It is truly fantastic to explore these ruins even if the very limited opportunities for shade suggest that you equip yourself with a hat, bottle of water and sunscreen. Unmissable.
