点评：Visited Mount Stuart on a day visit from Glasgow. Having got the 30 minute ferry ride from Wemyss Bay to Rothesay then a bus from the ferry terminal to the house we were greeted off the bus from a member of house staff which I thought was a really nice touch. The West Coast Motors bus drops off and picks up right by the house entrance in the grounds. You also get a 10% discount if you arrive on public transport. You can even taxi it from Rothesay as it's only a 10 minute or so journey.
The house itself is amazing inside. The marble hall and chapel are stunning filling with precious works of art and sumptuous furnishings. The staff on hand are really knowledgable about the house, history of Viscounts of Bute and the reasons why it was decorated the way it was.
There's 300 acres of grounds to explore too but we only managed a small part of it but they were well kept with unusual and rare plants made all the more pleasant with the spring blossom. There's also a small cafe on site which was very nice too.
This is probably one of Scotland's most impressive stately homes and can reasonably easily be done on public transport from Glasgow as we had done. This is definitely worth a visit if ever you get the chance.
