Happy times walking and trotting on a gorgeous secluded beach

点评：What a wonderful way to spend our last afternoon on Vieques! Jurutungo Farm came highly recommended by friends who live here on Vieques. We met at 4:30 near the heritage Ceiba tree to find our guide, Jimmy, with three horses. My husband Steve, a big guy, got the big alpha stallion, Apollo. I got to choose between a sweet and mellow retired racehorse named Pumpkin and Noodles, a much younger horse that would be well behaved, yet also spirited and lively. I’ve got a bit of riding experience, so I chose Noodles who was apt to give an interesting ride. I felt that we quickly formed a strong connection and camaraderie. He was a wonderful horse that took my cues beautifully, even when they were subtle. We rode on secluded beaches for almost the entire time. We even waded into the warm ocean. We were offered a couple of chances to trot, which Noodles seemed to love. Jimmy took some beautiful pics of us in the middle of the ride. The whole time, he gave us a wealth if information about the horses we see all over the island, Puerto Rican horseback culture and gaits, the island’s ecology, and the farm where the rescued horses are kept and cared for. We fed them apples we’d brought and graham snacks from Jimmy. The ride ended with such good vibes among the three of us (actually, seven of us including the dog). For me, it stoked the desire to want to ride more often. Thank you Jimmy and everyone at Jurutungo farm for this magical experience that brought me so much joy. We’d love to return one day!
