点评:We got the chance to visit it.
From the outside, it's hard to imagine that a nondescript building's doorway holds such a treasure trove of rare beauty.
The Church of the Nunziatina in Todi, located not far from the cathedral of Jacopone's city, has a fairly simple and linear portal, but as soon as you step inside, you're dazzled by the beauty of the Baroque frescoes that adorn the vault and naves.
The Church of the Nunziatina, known as the "Little Sistine Chapel" for its rich decorations, has been the home of the Confraternity of the Santissima Annunziata since 1554.
The decoration, inspired by Marian iconography, was entrusted to painters from the local school, including Andrea Polinori, who frescoed some of the side chapels.
The church, a riot of color, gilded stucco, angels, flowers, and fruit, was inaugurated in 1613.
The entrance fee is € 2 , but those who have been there swear it's absolutely worth it.
A detailed brochure and a very kind custodian tell the story of this little Umbrian gem.
Recommended.
