Mary’s Xian Tours的点评
点评：We did 4 tours with Mary - she was brilliant with the terracotta tour - funny, charming and full of interesting facts, but her true colours emerged in our next 3 tours. The Luoyang tour was supposed to be by bullet train but Mary indicated that it might perhaps be better to go by road. Trusting her, as she is our guide after all, I left it up to her. But she took us for a ride!!! The journey was 6 hrs each way - that meant 12 hrs in the van!! Promise of a light lunch in town was never fulfilled - Mary just decided we have dinner instead halfway along the way. We insisted on some lunch - and it was almost 3pm then. To top this, Mary charged us for the return train tickets (300rmb each - and there were 8 of us). She pocketed 2400rmb - just like that! We missed dinner and got back to the hotel just before midnight.
Huashan tour was next - Mary gave great details on each peak but her plan was only to show us the west peak - which could be done in under an hour. Last tour was Hukou Falls and she ditched us to attend to someone else. Left us with her husband (driver/guide) who spoke no English. This is not what we paid for! 6 of us in a van with a driver/guide - is that even allowed? Mary seemed unfamiliar with tours outside of Xi’an - her timings were always off and she did minimal guiding. Really disappointing! For non-Chinese speakers like us, please do your research. Ask plenty of questions and get a detailed itinerary. At least u know what you are paying for. Don’t make the same mistakes I did!
