点评:After visiting Gile’s Family Farm Sugarhouse on Maine Maple Sunday, I doubled back to the Gile’s Family Farm Country Store.
As always, there were many products for sale. In keeping with the season, maple products were featured. On the table near the entrance, maple items from Robin’s Confections were featured. There were maple sugar candies shaped like bears which I thought was clever in keeping with one of Maine’s symbols ~ the black bear. I also saw chocolate fudge in the form of a pie at $13.99.
And, of course, the store sold the sugarhouse operation’s maple syrup. For a Maple Sunday Special, a pint was $10.00. A quart was $16.00.
Maple Iced Sugar Cookies from Keller’s were $4.00.A Keller’s Maple Glazed Cinnamon Bun was also $4.00. There were other items from Keller’s in the $6.00 range.
On this trip, I also looked at apples, preserves, jams, jellies, and sauces. I found Out on a Limb All Natural No Sugar Added Taste of Maine Spread that was a mix of apples, blueberries, and strawberries.
The McIntosh apples looked good, but I still had several left from a late November purchase.
I considered a jar of Mike’s Maine Bread & Butter Pickle Chips or Dill Pickle Chips.
The varieties of Raye’s Mustard were interesting. The Winter Garden variety was made with dill, garlic, and celery.
For hard candy, I found the $1.99 Claey’s Old Fashioned Hard Candy in cinnamon, root beer, sassafras, and licorice flavors interesting. I’d never seen the unusual Claey’s name before, but the package said the company was founded in 1919. The company was in South Bend, Indiana.
I also saw souvenir T-shirts from Gile’s. I didn’t see a price.
As usual, I enjoyed my visit to the Gile’s Family Farm Country Store.
I maintain my rating of 5.0 and highly recommend a visit, especially during apple or maple season.
