Strenuous - for me - but worth it. Just wish there were a few trail markers!

点评：I’m not as young as I used to be, or in as good shape as I’d like to be. Given the descriptions and reviews I read I was prepared to turn around if the going was too difficult but even going slowly with stops to catch my breath we got to the top in about an hour. The last bit was the hardest; seeing no obvious path we had to pick our way over and around the rocky area searching for good places to step and occasionally taking advantage of rocks and tree roots for assistance. We found the marker at the top, took plenty of time to enjoy the view, but then couldn’t figure out quite which way we had come or which way to go back down. Fortunately another couple arrived and suggested an alternate trail. Even that was a bit hard to follow in a couple of spots but we ran into other hikers using an app who confirmed we were good. The walking was MUCH easier on that route. Other trails we have walked on this trip had markers all along; here we saw 2 or 3 red disks on the way up and none on the way down, so what gives? Does it depend on the jurisdiction, or on the trail, or have people swiped the markers? Given the number of well-used alternate paths, and given this trail seems to be recommended for most hikers and would attract those of us who are not used to relying on maps and compasses, it sure would be nice to have marks at least at key points! The other thing to note is limited parking along the road near the trailhead. Once you get to the actual trailhead there are signs saying no U-turn, keep driving the “loop”. At busy times you may have to park some distance away.
