Brilliant Museum with stunning new Aircraft Carrier Experience exhibit

点评：Visited on Thursday, 26/06/25. I hadn't visited for a few years, and it was a first visit for my son. Having left home at 10.00, we arrived after a non-stop drive via the M25/M3 & A303 at about 14.00, giving us a limited 2.5 hours to get round, and we used all of that time for this brilliant Museum. Bought tickets online in advance, which saved time and money. Went straight to the lovely café. Not much choice food-wise wise but amazing cakes, even if £5 for a cake is a bit pricey tbh. Halls 1 & 2 are a great introduction, especially as Hall 2 has the first jet to land and take off from a ship and the brilliant Airfield viewing area. A real surprise and delight was the new (for me) Aircraft Carrier Experience. From the entrance through a rattly helicopter to the flight deck and control rooms, it has to be one of the best aspects I have ever seen in any museum, let alone one dedicated to flight. This was worth the visit alone tbh. After this, in Hall 4 you have the big hitters in the form of the Concorde 002, Falkland Island Sea King and Harrier Jump Jets, as well as the Fairley Delta 2 jet. Though tbh the Concorde feels a little out of place given the nature of the museum, it's a delight to see anyway. We were basically the last to leave, and it was pretty empty anyway, given the time and day of the year, but it was all the better for that, for us. The Aircraft Carrier Experience I believe, closes a little earlier than the rest of the museum, so check this if you're arriving late, in terms of what to prioritise seeing. Interesting items in the shop and decent free parking adjacent to the museum entrance.
