Lovely grounds, cafe and play area needs a bit of TLC

点评：We visited today as a family of 4 plus my elderly mum. The castle itself is stunning to look at ( no access inside)
And the grounds are lovely and will be prettier as the flowers start to come out more. The play area is basic and could do with a bit of TLC. The cafe served cakes and the usual choice of hot drinks which were all tasty but we couldn't have a decaf mocha (always have this due to migraines) and the building smelt of -and felt a bit damp inside probably as its a log type cabin. It just didn't feel as welcoming as it could due to this so perhaps again some TLC/ Bit of a refresh is due.
Toilets are fine.
Our boys (4 and 10) liked running around the grounds, we all enjoyed the folly and lakes and seeing the views from the hill and daffodils.
My mum found the hills tricky for her walker so not very accessible but we understand this is the type of estate we were visiting. It just meant we went on to certain areas and she sat and took in the scenery if she couldn't follow.
Overall, we enjoyed a couple of hours here and would return but not somewhere we would visit regularly as it needs a bit more for the children and a revamp/freshen up for the café.
