点评:Do yourself a favor and hire a driver!!! Booked this for our once in a lifetime trip with myself and partner (late 30s) and his parents (late 70s). I was wary enough to take Dramamine before we got started and I also got those sea-sickness patches since we were going snorkeling the next day, so I tried those out to. I had Zero problems. Also, remember you're in a rainforest. It will likely rain during the several hour ride.
Now that's out of the way, what an experience! The main thing my "mom" wanted out of our trip was waterfalls. The Road to Hana tour was perfect for that as we even got to step into the basin of one. The jungle-y scenery was breathtaking and we had several stops or 'slow drive by' scenic outlooks that were absolutely lovely. I very much appreciated that this tour was customizable in that we added the 'foodie' stops and the Kahanu National Garden which hosts the remains of an ancient Hawaiian heiau. IDC about my fam, but I felt a wonderful connection with the history of the place, it might've been my favorite site of the day.
Lovely food stops along the way too, including breakfast at Island Fresh Cafe (acai bowl, respect!), the road to Aunty Sandy's was closed so we went to Halfway to Hana for our banana bread fix (was still warm, yum!) got gorgeous coconut base ice cream at Coconut Glen's (they happen to be vegan, and the flavors we tried were not overly sweet, which was lovely and refreshing.) When we got to Hana, we sampled a variety of food trucks (there is a melting-pot of ethnicities on the islands, so all sorts of cuisines.)
We also got to go to the black sand beach; only a few in the world, so go see it while you have the opportunity. There was also the Jaws surf break beach which had a section where the turtles come up to the land - hang ten or hang loose, whatever floats your boat!
Back to point number one - do yourself a favor and hire a driver! You do not want to drive this road yourself, and you'll get so much more out of the trip with a knowledgeable guide pointing things out, giving you history, and maybe giving you their life story, LOL! For real though, I loved our guide, Kalei! The Legend!
He was a total expert, really knew the road well, had a great sense of humor and was a prolific story-teller. Half the time I could not tell when he was bulls---ting, and that amused me to no end! Pretty decent dad jokes, not the best taste in movies, hahaha. Kalei truly gave us a unique, catered, comfortable, (sometimes corny) experience; it was a very fun-filled day!
