点评：Ecological farming is still the exception rather than the rule on the Azores. Gena Pinheiro and Joao Mendonca are heading the effort to establish the turn towards ecological farming on the island on Sao Miguel. They combine Gena‘s specific knowledge in holistic approaches from her education in Berkeley and Joao‘s skills from a generations-long history of farmers in his family. They offer excellent farm tours where you learn a lot about the daily routines of a farmer. You visit the pastures as well as the farm itself. You can even try to milk a cow (high success rate). At the end of the tour, you taste some of the milk-based products the farm produces. The specific approach of the farm to produces the cheeses directly from raw milk (which typically means that even people with a lactose intolerance face no problems). Gena and Joao are the most charming couple you can imagine. I hab enjoined them several times on the farm tours and I only witness enthusiastic responses.
