点评：It's not unusual to find these metal fabricated buildings called breweries springing up out of nowhere. In fact they are overly-trendy and seem to be popping up everywhere like Walmarts used to do in every town. Finding a special one that puts all the pieces together is a rare discovery. It doesn't just happen. It requires time to put everything in place. And certainly the vision. I believe earlier reviews reflected the initial growing pains when Slate Hill wasn't in the stage it's at now. It deserves an updated, more accurate review. Slate Hill is far more developed than most breweries I've patronized.
My visit on an unseasonable December early afternoon was a lucky break. If you are traveling with puppy you can't always eat wherever you please. The brewery is dog-friendly but that's on the outside-not inside. So that means you and your puppy will camp-out at one of the picnic tables in the "open air". The tables are situated on concrete slabs so the area is not uncomfortable. Had my visit been on a normal December weather day this story would be far different.
This is not by definition a brewpub so food is not sharing equal billing with the brews. The menu is limited. But let me tell you, bite into a bacon gouda burger and be prepared to have something better than you ever expected! The burger is black angus with a killer raw onion ring on top. Chips are standard on the side, any upgraded side will add 5 bucks to the cost. That seems overpriced but if you ask me you get your money's worth. I came away with a scrumptious taste that lasted the remainder of the day.
How to describe the atmosphere at Slate Hill Brewery? I don't know...it's like going to a neighborhood picnic. it's a place to just have fun and relax, play some games, hear some music if it's happening and hang out for a while in, really, the middle of nowhere. Don't come here for the TVs though, it's not a sports bar. If I lived close enough I would come here for no reason at all just to see what's going on - it's that inviting!
