Great history, views and cafe. Recommend.
Castelo de Silves的点评
点评：Stayed in Lagos and took an uber inland to this pretty little historic town. Got dropped by the castle - entrance fee was very cheap. They've done a great job balancing the historic elements with some modern facilities. The ramparts offered great views all around (be careful with children as there's no barriers). It was great watching the many storks nesting nearby.
There's also some excavations of the old Moorish palace within and lots of very clear explanatory information boards, plus some items that have been unearthed and the massive water reservoir building they used for storing water and now an exhibition area.
In the area that hasn't got excavations, they've built a pretty garden with sculpture and seating. Plus there's a really good modern cafe (with toilets behind) with water around it and plenty of shade, serving a good range of food and drink including crepes.
We thought they'd made really good use of the space and it was a pleasure to visit. The only disappointment was that they didn't have a guide book which I'd have liked.
It's a very pleasant walk down through the old town afterwards.
