Kelpie Centre excellent, township very disappointing

点评：Town itself is rundown and even though it was a major holiday weekend almost everything was closed! Astounding to think that businesses didn’t want to make money when tourists come there. The Information (Kelpie) Centre its self was really good but don’t expect anything else when you get there. And don’t expect it to be dog friendly either. We couldn’t find anywhere off leash. At least we got to take our dogs up and down the empty Main Street of the town. The one antique shop in town that was open was pretty awesome. There are a lot of interesting things in there at reasonable prices. We had problems finding places to eat! Bakery was closed. Most eating places were closed, except for Casterton Central cafe (off the main drag). Thank goodness they had some food there. We had some pretty good pies and a really nice home-made Monte Carlo biscuit. But there wasn’t that much food there because every tourist that came to town before us already consumed most of it. Looks like the town is dying and has a lot of social issues which could be improved by the town changing the way it chooses to operate during the busiest times. Back to the Australian kelpie Centre, the staff were lovely, and the souvenirsT that were there were really reasonably priced, possibly under priced. The exhibition and history of the Kelpie dog was pretty awesome thank you.
