点评:Today we had the incredible experience of visiting The Bug in the Rug Workshop and Gallery in Teotitlàn del Valle, Mexico, where we got a hands-on demonstration of their rug making process.
Our guide, J. Isaac Jr., is a master weaver and designer, whose family has been weaving for generations.
His grandfather, Don J. Isaac Vásquez García, was a master weaver and dyer and the eldest living member of one of the oldest weaving families in Teotitlán del Valle. He is famous for for preserving and sharing traditional Zapotec textile practices; using pre-Colombian natural dyes on pure wool, and performing every step by hand -from carding to spinning and dyeing to designing and weaving their beautiful rugs and textiles.hand, and. His family continues the tradition today.
They were so welcoming and it was fascinating to learn about and to appreciate the huge amount of work that goes into each piece.
We felt honored to witness this centuries-old practice in action and are thrilled to have a few pieces to take home with us.
