Enjoyable expansive market but congested exit
Thurn und Taxis Palace的点评
点评：This excursion was part of our Viking Christmas on the Danube cruise from Budapest to Regensburg. First a tour of the palace then time in the 'Romantic' extensive medieval Christmas market.
The palace was nothing exceptional, but the market had many unique features like open wood fires, craftsmen on site such as blacksmiths and wood carvers making and selling their wares. Much of the stuff on sale had been made by the vendors or sourced locally. Their glühwein mug was a deep royal blue with a gold image of the palace so a bit above the usual Christmas market memento mugs.
At the end of the evening, our local guide hired by Viking for the Thurn & Taxis Romantic Christmas Market excursion had us all meet her “near the llama enclosure” for the walk along dark streets to the bus parking lot. The meeting area was pitch black (obviously the two llamas were trying to sleep) and filled with other groups also meeting there. It was pandemonium with people trying to find their correct group. Plus, the red Viking signs with tour number do not show up at night in any light. Things did finally get sorted out, but it was not a pleasant end to an otherwise nice Christmas market visit.
