Absolutely amazing experience!
My partner and I had the pleasure of doing a Half Day Experience at Thirsk Birds of Prey Centre on 6th June 2025 — and it was truly unforgettable!
The centre itself is very easy to find, with ample parking and a warm, welcoming feel. The site is compact but perfectly organised, with clean and tidy amenities and plenty of picnic benches and seating to relax and enjoy the beautiful countryside surroundings.
We spent the morning with Dave & Kerry & Colin, who were simply fabulous hosts. Their passion for the birds and the work they do shines through in every moment. All 3 are incredibly knowledgeable, compassionate, and dedicated advocates for these amazing creatures. It was inspiring to hear about the individual stories of the birds, rescued and bought, and to see how they are fantastically well cared for.
The experience itself was hands-on, engaging and full of special moments. Flying and handling such majestic birds under the guidance of such a skilled team was a real privilege. We left with a much deeper appreciation and respect for birds of prey, a very fond attachment to the Vulture called Violet & a genuine understanding of the important conservation work this centre does.
A huge thank you to Dave & Kerry & Colin and everyone involved — we’ll definitely be recommending this experience to friends and family, and we look forward to visiting again!
