Lovely day at the farm

点评：Myself and my husband took our two grand daughters to the farm on 6 November. I pre booked the tickets online which were very reasonable but not sure if prices are lower at this time of year as other reviewers had commented on high price of tickets. From the moment we arrived we received a warm welcome and everything was clearly explained drawing our attention to the what’s on today board along with all facilities. This is the perfect place to let the children burn off energy as there are lots of indoor and outdoor play areas. My grandchildren are under 2 so they loved the soft play and the outdoor play area and sand pit which was well stocked with buckets, spades, sieves etc. there were swings and climbing frames with slides, lots of sit on models and mini trampolines at ground level. There is also a lovely farm walk where you can see the beautiful animals grazing and the option to buy bags of food at £1.50 for a large bag. We bought two and the sheep really enjoyed it. Paddocks were clearly signed to say what animals cannot be fed. The horses were really nice and there were sheep, goats, llama, birds, chickens, miniature cows and pigs and there is a lovely small animal section with bunnies, larger rabbits, mice, rodents, Guinea pigs and you can pet the ones out on display and there were plenty of team members to talk to. There was also a large barn with more animals in I think it was called discovery or something similar but no prams were allows and by the time we found it, our babies were sleeping so we didn’t go in. There was a piggy race which was very sweet and it was the piglets first race but they all did very well and they were super cute. All the children watching were allowed to pick a coloured flag to wave to encourage the piglets, it was good fun and the piglets seemed to enjoy the exercise. There are excellent food and drink facilities although as it was extremely quiet on the day we visited not all outdoor snack/coffee places were open but there was a very well stocked cafe by the soft play selling sandwiches, hot and. Cold drinks, healthy snack fruit bags as well as delicious cakes, we had the cupcakes and they were super. Also we had lunch at the adjacent large barn restaurant and received a wrist band so we could go from the farm to the restaurant and then back to the farm. I would highly recommend the barn restaurant as it had an excellent menu, nice cakes, drinks, snacks etc and they also let me fill up my babies bottles with milk and only charged me a small amount for this. Staff were very helpful and friendly and the restaurant was very clean with staff cleaning all the time when food was dropped on the floor etc. our final stop before going home was the delightful gift shop which was very well stocked with really nice products from kids clothing to toys, books and gifts and another very polite and friendly member of staff who was friendly, helpful and polite even taking time to check T shirt sizes and availability. I can imagine this gem of a place gets packed in the summer but we will definitely be. Visiting again when the weather is warmer.
