Breathtaking beach!

点评：Gorgeous beyond words! Not easy to get to so I think that keeps some of the crowds down. Rented a car in Chania and drove to this beach. After the town of Kissamos there is a ticket area and after paying 2e per person there is a dirt road. It was just fine with a small car and that’s all we actually saw on the road. When you get to the parking area, about 6 miles later, there is a 3e fee to park. Parking area has a restroom for 1e and small snack bar. Looked like they had some small pastries as well as coffee and alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks. The path is almost a mile to the beach. Nice trail and there are friendly goats everywhere. Only tough part of the trek to the beach is the last part down the steep sandy slope. Note this is very unpleasant going back but it doesn’t last long! There is another snack bar on the beach. The views are breathtaking on the walk to the beach. There are some rocky volcanic areas as well as sandy areas. A few friendly goats patrol the beach. Water was pleasant and not overly chilly as I expected for May. Crystal clear gorgeous water.
