点评：The Golden Harvest Park is a wonderful park in the Randburg area near Northgate Shopping Centre. This year 2024, there have been many improvements both by the Park Services and the work of the Friends of the Park Volunteers. There have been major clean-ups and improved visibility of security staff with 2-way radios. Invasive plants are being cleared and the overgrowth close to the paths around the park are regularly cut well back for better visibility. The security staff now do routine patrols throughout the day.
The Saturday Golden Harvest parkrun starts at 08:00 (sharp). It is a challenging walk for first-timers, however a great event, there is a good amount of shade for cooler summer running. Dogs can do the parkrun on a short lead, strictly one per person. and there are several dog water stops available en-route. Marshals are distributed along the route and a first aider and rescue vehicle is available for any incidents. There is a great team of volunteers who make this just an awesome start to a weekend. Try it out, there are usually 500+ runner and walkers. You will not be disappointed.
As a regular parkrun marshal during 2024 I am not aware of any personal security incidents during the parkrun since the incidents in December 2023.
Security awareness: As a visitor to any free open spaces in Johannesburg, please keep alert and preferably walk with a friend!
