点评：This was such an amazing surprise. We were meant to be going to another place but it was closed so we decided last minute to go here and we were blown away. Firstly, it’s free to get in (although there is an option to make a donation by cash or card) but it’s well worth any amount you’d pay. The old part of the house is absolutely breathtaking. If you like national trust or English heritage houses then this is right up your street. The furnishings are Devine and the decor, from the silks on the walls to the intricate mouldings and painted ceilings are stunning. I took my mam and we when we turned the corner into the rooms it literally took our breath away. Then the back part which is also very large, has cases and cases of taxidermy birds and British wildlife which is super interesting. Another part holds history on the area with displays of how people lived and worked and another area filled with crystals.
Outside there’s an aviary filled with budgies and cockatiels and Guinea pigs. Then the pavilion which is a large orangery which holds the cafe for food and drinks (we had a panini and jacket potato which were both delicious).
The gardens are beautiful with fountains and a play area for kids. Plenty of space to pop a blanket down and have a picnic too.
I could have spent hours there and will definitely visit again next time I’m in the areas
