ABSOLUTELY STAGGERING BASILICA
圣米歇尔大教堂的点评
点评：Start your ascent to the Basilica from Quai Bonaparte so you don’t miss out on seeing the Ramps with their exquisite small stone steps and slate tiles above the handrails. When you reach the top you’ll find a small square in the same coloured small stones as the Ramps. These are crafted into lovely small patterns in front of the Basilica. Its facade is cream and white with its 2 towers either side in orange and yellow. It has 3 solid wood doors with the middle one being the entrance and above are 8 large white pillars. Above its doors are 3 white majestic looking statues of soldiers, and higher still you’ll find windows and smaller pillars. Its left steeple is a bell and clock tower, with the right one having a beautiful ledge at the top followed by a 3 tiered dome. Inside be prepared to be blown away! Its interior is simply staggering with its absolute beauty. The altar and ceiling are majestic and everywhere else is also amazing. The altar is awash with gold leaf on its main structure and all its statues, ornaments and huge candle holders. At its peak is a 6’ coloured statue too. Behind all of this is another intricate designed structure in gold and green with lovely architecture. The ceiling has to be seen to be believed and is full of colour, detailed designs, and runs the length of the church. There’s numerous alcoves down each side which are all different and all exquisite and are just too numerous and descriptive to mention. This place is monumental and not to be missed.
