Much better than we thought.
National Trust - Knightshayes Court的点评
点评：First time we have visited. It is an easy drive up the M5 from Dawlish, follow the A361 towards Tiverton. Then follow the Brown signs for the property.
The grounds are huge, with a nice drive towards the reception area. There is plenty of parking behind the reception centre. Fees applicable for parking. From the car park it is a steepish track towards Reception.
Our first stop was the cafe. Very impressed, friendly service. Prices are typical for a NT property. £4.10 for a large latte. Lovely seating area, with solid table and chairs. Presume it was a stable before. Our lattes were excellent, made by Erin?
Next, a quick visit to the toilets. Which were modern and very clean.
The confusing part is the actual entrance. It is through the shop. You can easily miss it and just enter the gardens without paying, I am sure people do unintentionally . Friendly staff checked our annual NT passes. Off we set.
First, the lovely Kitchen Garden, a Walled Garden set up. Lots of things going on, an army of volunteers attending to the garden. Unfortunately most of the flowers were going over, but still well worth the visit.
Then a short walk to the main house, which we didn't go into at first. Instead we strolled around the immense gardens and woods. Lovely ponds, statues, benches, and topiary to take in.
The house is a run of the norm ex stately home. The guide in the dining room was excellent. He obviously loves his job, full of obscure facts.
Then a cuppa of tea in the Conservatory Cafe. Limited choice, but a great setting.
Finished off in the Gift Shop. We'll stocked, and friendly staff in attendance.
Definitely going back.
