For years, I had told myself I’d wait and do my first jump in Dubai. But something nudged me, just weeks before heading to New Zealand, to book with Taupo Tandem. I followed that instinct, and I’m so, so glad I did.
From the moment I walked in, the team was incredibly warm, welcoming, and professional. Everything was explained clearly and thoroughly for my 15,000 ft jump, which helped me feel calm, informed, and ready. One standout detail? After gearing up, multiple staff members came by to double-check everyone’s equipment. This extra level of care didn’t go unnoticed; it built even more trust.
My tandem instructor, Nathan, was exceptional. As a woman, you don’t always know how close-contact experiences like this will feel, especially if you have a history of trauma. But without me needing to say a word, Nathan was respectful, thoughtful, and communicative. Every adjustment, every movement, he explained ahead of time, making sure I was prepared and comfortable. I can’t express how much that meant to me. I felt safe, supported, and completely present throughout the entire experience.
I also went for the Guru Package, and if it’s within your budget, DOOO IT. The footage and photos were absolutely stunning. As someone who works in the video industry, I was blown away by the quality and the quick turnaround.
The scenic backdrop of Taupo? Just wow.
