点评:It's been 40 years since I've been to Heritage Park, and it has blossomed into a fun, educational visit for the entire family. From the moment you enter the gates, you sense the effort put into recreating the events and people who shaped today's Calgary and environs.
The Gasoline Alley Museum is extraordinary, and it's hard to believe that most vehicles are from one person's (Mr Ron Carey) private collection! I had the opportunity to talk to one of the volunteers, and his excitement about working was palpable.
Walking into the Heritage Park village is a journey of discovery, with the beautiful Glenmore Reservoir, the paddlewheel SS Moyie, a spooking coal mine, and the warden's hut. The employees, with their friendly and engaging nature, make you feel like a part of the history. It would have been even more enriching if some of them had a backstory for their role at a particular exhibit.
Any young child would awed by the feeling of walking along Front Street in the old town of Heritage Park. I was that kid many years ago, and the wonder of it hasn't faded.
Well worth the trip!
