点评：If you’re looking for calm, warm water near Cape Town, Langebaan is a beach that often surprises people.
Located along the West Coast about an hour and a half from the city, Langebaan sits on a lagoon rather than the open ocean. That means the water is usually much warmer and far calmer than Cape Town’s Atlantic beaches, making it perfect for swimming, kayaking, paddleboarding, or just floating around.
The lagoon is known for its incredible shades of blue — on a sunny day the water can look almost tropical. The soft white sand stretches along the shoreline and the views across the lagoon feel wide and peaceful, especially compared to the busier city beaches.
It’s also a favourite spot for kitesurfers and windsurfers when the afternoon wind picks up. Even if you’re not into watersports, it’s fun to watch the colourful kites flying across the lagoon.
One of the best things about Langebaan is the relaxed atmosphere. You’ll see families picnicking, people walking along the shore, and plenty of space to spread out and enjoy the day.
If you go:
• Bring sunscreen and a hat — there’s very little natural shade
• Pack a picnic or enjoy one of the nearby lagoon restaurants
