Unforgettable experience. Fascinating to discover the jungle and villages with guides from the tribes who live there
Nam Ha Hill Tribe Eco-Trek的点评
点评:Wonderful 3 day trek led by Somhak and two other guides (I Keo and Perng Keo), all from the Kmu tribe. They paced the trek perfectly for our group (2 of us in our 60s, one mid twenties).
The weather was perfect at the start of December - very few bugs and cool enough in the forest for walking. (27C middle of the day)
The first night we wild camped in a shelter created from bamboo and banana. Somhak brings sleeping bags and small tents and we slept well. We ate bamboo soup, rattan and other forest plants, cooked in saucepans made from bamboo and eaten off banana leaves. There were frogs and chicken cooked on the fire for meat eaters.
We learnt so much about the many uses of forest plants, the history and the culture. Somhak was trained by his father as a hunter from very young, when the American bombing was still going on and he had many fascinating stories.
We also learnt how to make musical instruments and about the different types of traditional traps used by the hunters.
The second night we stayed in an Akha village, swimming in the local river to wash.
