Disappointing and unsatisfactory

点评：This is the first negative review I have ever written, but our experience was disappointing enough that I feel compelled to share it.
Our family had been looking forward to staying at Château du Rivau for months. Given its reputation and the price of the accommodations, we expected it to be one of the highlights of our two-week trip to France. Unfortunately, it did not come close to meeting those expectations.
To start with the positives, the rooms were beautiful and comfortable, and the breakfast each morning was excellent. One of the breakfast hosts was especially warm and friendly, which we appreciated.
Unfortunately, several aspects of the stay fell short. The lighting throughout the château (hallways, our rooms and the check-in/check-out area) was quite poor, making many areas feel dark and difficult to navigate. The shower water was only lukewarm during our stay. We were also disappointed by the concierge-style services that were advertised but not realistically available. For example, the château brochure states that staff can assist with arranging activities such as wine tastings. However, when we asked for help, we were told that arrangements needed to be made weeks in advance. We ultimately contacted a winery ourselves and were able to schedule a tasting for the very next day, which made the response from the château particularly frustrating.
Most disappointing, however, was the level of hospitality. Aside from the one breakfast host mentioned above, we generally found the staff to be unfriendly and unwelcoming. One staff member was notably rude at the end of our stay, leaving us with a negative final impression.
Château du Rivau is undeniably a beautiful property, but for the price we paid, we expected a much higher level of service, comfort, and guest experience. While others may have a different experience, our family left feeling disappointed rather than delighted.
