Monarto Safari Park的点评
点评：Monarto Safari Park passes were part of our Monarto Safari Resort package.
The Park is an open zoo with wide enclosures for the animals.
There are six clusters of enclosures services by a hop on hop off bus. There are informative volunteers at all stops to help you navigate the enclosures and excellent viewing platforms.
Tip: Stop 1 is effectively for the Cheetah enclosure only.
Tip: time your visit to stop 5’s Rhino talk then do the Cheetah talk. Stop 1 and 5 are close together and an easy walk between.
Stop 2 features Meerkats, Chimps and Rock Wallaby. The Rock Wallaby is one of very few walk through enclosures.
Tip: if you are early enough you can visit here before catching the bus and joining the first keeper at stop 4.
Stop 3: is for Elephants including former Auckland Zoo’s elephant Burma.
Tip: you see additional animals between the stops such as Bison that are not available easily on foot - so make sure you do all the rides!
Stop 4: includes giraffes and Tasmanian Devil - make sure you do the keeper talks in this area.
Stop 5: Rhino and There are zoo specific buses but also SALink buses (school run buses that operate at the zoo during the day)
Stop 6: carnivores including hyena, painted dogs and lions.
Tip: Don’t believe when they say you have time to catch the Carnivore shuttle just before the talk - our driver took time to let us see the animals but we missed the talk!
Stop 7: entrance and exit through the gift shops.
Tip: There are a number of zoo experience including Lion 360° but these need to be booked in advance
There are dedicated zoo buses and the zoo also uses off duty school buses during the day. Buses wind down from 3pm so don’t get too far away, it would be a long walk! Buses take about 90min for a complete circumnavigation of the stops.
There are various walking paths through the park and while a couple are long they are easy grades.
