点评:This building was sighted on the walk to the Oishi Shrine and believed to be the remains of the home of Oishi Kuranosuke, the head of the Asano (Ako) Estate and responsible for running the daily business of the castle and boss of the samurai. Back then , the various regional lords (Asano) were required to visit Edo (Tokyo) every year or so and Asano in 1701 on one such visit took umbrage and attempted to kill Lord Kira in the Edo Castle and for his trouble had to commit Seppuku, leaving Oishi in charge and one of the 47 Ronin or leaderless samurai. It took them a year or so and they finally took revenge against Kira and lopped off his head one day in Tokyo but they too had to committ seppuku, and hence the legend of the 47 Samurai, their graves along with Asano in the Senagakuji Temple in Tokyo. The residence was interesting and well preserved amd one of many interesting places in Ako. There was no English signage.
