Between 10:30–11:00 AM, we were riding Powderbowl Express when a skier in front of us got her ski stuck at the top unloading area and fell, causing the lift to slow down. Shortly after, my friend’s ski tip also got caught in the same spot. The employee clearly saw what happened and told my friend, “you have to let it go,” as the ski became lodged between the lift and the tip. Her ski came off and was left on the ground behind the unloading zone.
The situation worsened from there. We expected him to assist us by retrieving the ski, as he had done for the person ahead of us. Instead, he appeared uninterested or annoyed and chose not to help. Rather than assisting, he spent several minutes piling snow near the unloading area while we waited.
After about 3–5 minutes of being ignored, I repeatedly said “excuse me,” but he did not respond. I eventually had to approach him directly and ask him to grab the ski. At that point, he acted as if he was unaware of the situation, despite having clearly seen what had happened earlier.
I understand that retrieving a stuck ski can be inconvenient, but as an employee responsible for that area, it is unacceptable to ignore guests who need assistance especially in a situation that disrupts operations and creates potential safety concerns. A basic level of attentiveness and professionalism should be expected.
