史密斯家族花园的烤猪大餐的点评
点评：When working hard trip to Kawai. We decided to do more than one luau. The Smith family luau seem to be a popular one so we went ahead and booked that along with the Ahi Lele Fire Show ( which we actually preferred.)
Last night we attended the Smith Family Luau. Since we had both attended luaus on other islands we knew what to expect. Smith family is your basic luau with music and good food. The property is actually a botanical garden and it is stunning. When you enter, they take a picture with some of the dancers and then you board a tram that take you around the park with a narration explains the different plants and interesting things about the culture. After the tram ride, you are given time to roam the grounds on your own to take pictures. There are roosters and peacocks that run the grounds and you can purchase feed to feed them on your own.
The Imu ceremony is interesting and they explain how the pig is cooked in a pit. You watch as it is brought out and are given the opportunity for more photos.
From there, you are guidance into the large coveted dining area. There are six food lines and so even though there are a lot of people in this area, the serving lines go very quickly. There’s a selection of different meats and side dishes, and a table with lots of fresh fruit and coconut cake for dessert. There are also free drinks and although they aren’t very strong, they are free.
After dinner, you head to the amphitheater where the show is held. We found the dancers to be adequate, not great, but OK. We’ve certainly seen more skilled dancers with other luaus.
