Easier Walk to Basse Ville Without Using the Breakneck Stairs or Funicular
Breakneck Steps (L'Escalier Casse-Cou)的点评
点评:Walking down L’Escalier Casse-Cou (aka Breakneck Stairs) is not difficult but the crowds and tourists stopping to take selfies can make the walk down the steps a lot more challenging than it should be. The pricey funicular might not be better especially during high season - there might be long line for the short one minute ride in the crowded small cabin (one way trip $6 CAD or $6 US cash only).
After doing the walk down L’Escalier Casse-Cou and taking the funicular back up, we Googled and found an easier way to Basse Ville. Starting from behind Notre Dame Basilica de Quebec, we followed Google along Cote de la Montagne that leads to Rue du Petit Champlain. It is a more comfortable walk down a less steep and wider staircase with safe railings and fewer steps. And the best part - no chaotic crowds.
