Engaging Museum in Restored Art Nouveau Building, including Film About the Fire & Rebuilding of the City Center
Jugendstilsenteret og KUBE的点评
点评:The museum is based in a beautifully restored building, which originally housed an apothecary on the ground floor, with the family living above. The woodwork, windows, and other parts of the building itself are gorgeous. The dining room is furnished with the original pieces that the family owned; they are beautiful. The rest of the rooms contain "period-appropriate" furnishings that are of less interest.
Before entering the upper level with the family's quarters, you pass through an ersatz "time machine" that takes you into a series of darkened rooms to watch a film about the fire that destroyed the city center and the resulting efforts both to find temporary shelter for the displaced residents and then to rebuild the city center. The narration includes many first-person excerpts by people who were there, which are very affecting.
