More Than Just a Big Place Filled With Books.
维多利亚州立图书馆的点评
点评：Visiting the State Library of Victoria was a very enjoyable experience. I didn't book a tour, though on reflection I probably should have, so my sojourn was all very much a freelance wander. As a lover of books and a visitor to other state libraries I was looking to see how the SLV measured up, and truth be told it's bloody impressive. The La Trobe Reading Room is the undoubted highlight...one could easily set yourself up here with a book or two, some study notes and literally bathe in the bibliophile wonder of it all. Having said that, I suspect it might get a bit chilly in that part of the building.
The other elements of the SLV are quite impressive and pleasing to experience, and whilst it has nothing to match the Shakespeare Room at the State Library of NSW, seeing Ned Kelly's armour on display was pretty cool. That there is a Readings outlet at the SLV was also a positive, and whilst I didn't avail myself, the cafe looked very amenable.
If you love books and libraries then you have to visit here when in Melbourne.
