C. History: Named after the former President of India, Dr. Zakir Hussain, this garden created in 1967 under the guidance of Mohinder Singh Randhawa, First Chief Commissioner of Chandigarh. The garden is the largest rose garden in Asia
D. Attraction: The garden is spread over 30 acres and houses 1600 species of roses. Some important Rose species in this Garden are the Royal William Rose, Europa-Rosarium, Rosa Gallica, Beach Rose, Rosa chinensis, Centifolia roses, Rosa glauca. Apart from rose, the garden houses some medicinal trees, cactus species as well. The garden is very well curated and separate species are planted on different flower beds in a well curated grass lawn and pathways around tge lawn for the visitors. Each species name is written on the bushes. Some rare bicolor plants that blooms roses od different colours or tones can be seen. Rare Black or orange coloured roses are one of the important attractions.
E. Dos and Don'ts : Visitors should keep in mind that there are strict punishment and fine for plucking flowers or petals or leaves in the garden. A fine of ₹500 is levied for such offence. They are also advised not to troll on the grass as well.
