点评：You have to book to visit the house - Sausmarez Manor. The manor has a rich history of and the centuries of association from 1205. It contains architecture, artefacts and art relating to members of the family who have been explorers, privateers, sailors, inventors, athletes, soldiers, navigators, colonial governors, artists, merchants and naturalists. The tour of Sausmarez Manor, the Island’s Stately Home, was an interesting and often amusing. Spanning 800 years in the ownership of the Seigneurs de Sausmarez, the architecture and contents reflect the ebb and flow of the fortunes of the Island and family over the eventful centuries. No photography was allowed in the house.
Apart from the house there is also on site are an unusual RHS Partner Garden with a sculpture park, a coppersmith, a Tearoom and a relaxed and inexpensive 9 hole par 3 Pitch & Putt with free equipment hire. Walk through the garden with its sculptures, round the duck pond with a fountain to the coppersmith’s workshop, stopping for a cup of tea at the tearoom.
