点评:We pre-booked a weekend parking spot, together with a timeslot two days before the visit, and we booked it approximating our visit from the nearby sunflower farm. We ended up finishing our visit of the sunflower farm early, but we couldn't change out arrival time at Cheltenham Badlands.
We visited just yesterday, and driving to the site, there was a huge lineup of cars trying to get to the parking lot, clogging the roadways and some incessant honking of vehicles just trying to go straight along the road. There was a security guard onsite checking parking passes, and to my surprise, as vehicles get turned back one by one, I thought the parking lot was full, which would have been disappointing since we paid, but it turns out ALL vehicles that were blocking the entrances did NOT have a legitimate reservation! I was let in when all the blocking cars without reservation before me were turned back. I was then prompted by the security to show my ticket. I showed my QR code to the guard and promptly let me in. The parking gates lifted up for me, and the parking lot had plenty of spaces!
The trail to the badlands was decent, maybe around 500 metres or so, leading to the viewpoint at the end. We understand that it is ecologically sensitive and so no stepping on the badlands was allowed.
Understandably the landscape is just small and not as massive as you would see in Dinosaur Provincial Park, Theodore Roosevelt National Park, or Badlands National Park, but it's still a sight to see for those seeking a little nature escape from the city.
