I arrived Tortola on a cruise on Xmas Day 2023. I went to their ticket booth in Road Town to check the ferry schedule for Bathe National Park. The ticket lady told me that they have 2 ferries that day: one leaving at 8:30am, the other at 10:20am, and there's only 1 return ferry at 1:45pm. I then paid $80 for two tickets on the 10:20am ferry. I came back with my daughter at 10:00am. The lady who sold me the ticket recognized me and apologized that they changed the departing dock for the 10:20am ferry. She told us to go look for the ferry near our cruise port (it’s a 10-15 min walk between cruise port and sensation ferry dock/ticket booth). So we walked back to our cruise port, we didn’t see any ferry. We asked the tourism information booth lady working at the cruise port for help. At first, she couldn’t believe what I told her - that the sensation ferry lady told us to come back to the cruise port to get on our 10:20am ferry. She said ferries don’t have the permit to stop at the cruise port. We sensed something was not right….. The next 30-60 min was spent trying to figure out what’s going on – many phone calls by this nice lady at the tourism info booth to get through to someone from Sensation Ferry. It’s Xmas so many phone calls land in voice mails. Eventually she heard from someone from Sensation that they cancelled the 10:20am ferry. We felt we were fooled by the lady who sold us the ticket – she must have known they cancelled the 10:20am ferry when we showed up at 10:00am, why did she not tell us the truth but instead sent us away by lying to us that they changed departure place? It’s a 20-30 mins walk back and forth, and by then We already made 2 round trips (one in morning when I bought the tickets, the other in trying to catch the 10:20 ferry).
We were so disappointed – Bathe has been what we most looked forward to visiting for this whole cruise trip. But what happened next is even WORSE. We walked back to Sensation ticket booth, hoping to get a refund. This is our 3rd trip to their place. Their booth was closed. We tried to call the two numbers they listed on their ticket window – no one answered the call. We again walked back to the cruise port and found the same lady at the tourism information booth who helped us just now. After several rounds of phone calls and voices msgs, she heard back from Sensation Ferry – and here’s the WORST part: the company said the tickets I brought is for 8:30am, and I missed the ferry, so NO REFUND. What a CROOK! This is the MOST dishonest company I dealt with. By the way, there’s really no tickets printed with a departure time, just a receipt and wrist bands. We were very disappointed that they cancelled the scheduled ferry, but we were shocked that they made up such a cheap lie to refused to refund us. After all this mess, it’s almost 1:00pm. Our cruise’s onboard deadline was scheduled at 3:30pm. We couldn’t go anywhere else. Our day at Tortola was totally ruined. The tourism information lady told us Speedy Ferry is the most reliable. I also read lots of good reviews about them. Unfortunately they don’t operation on Xmas day. I advise anyone who’s taking ferry in Tortola go with Speedy. They have way better reviews and I trust the local insider’s opinion (the tourism information booth lady).
